Samsung Pro Plus and Evo Plus MicroSD cards released with six-proof protection

Samsung on Tuesday unveiled a new series of microSD cards aimed at professionals – Pro Plus. It also launched a redesigned line of its Evo Plus microSD cards to consumers. Samsung Pro Plus microSD cards, aimed at content creators, offer read and write speeds of up to 160 MBps and 120 MBps, respectively. Evo Plus microSD cards, intended for casual everyday use, offer transfer speeds of up to 130 MBps, providing sequential read speeds up to 1.3x faster compared to the previous version. Both microSD cards come with storage capacity options of up to 512GB.

The South Korean giant says two new microSD cards are designed to capture high-quality stills, 4K Ultra HD (UHD) video and other content on smartphones, action cameras and drones. Samsung Pro Plus microSD cards will be available in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB capacities. On the other hand, the Samsung Evo Plus microSD card will be available in 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 512GB capacities. Both microSDs come with a reimagined Blue Wave design and have already hit the markets.

The new line of microSD cards offers Samsung’s six-proof protection, plus two layers of protection over the previous generation, making them capable of resisting water, extreme temperatures, x-ray, wear, drops and magnetic impact. While Evo Plus microSD cards offer transfer speeds of up to 130 MBps, Samsung Pro Plus microSD cards offer read and write speeds of up to 160 MBps and 120 MBps, respectively. Both are touted to offer a 10-year limited warranty.
