Realme 8i specs confirmed to include SoC MediaTek Helio G96; Suggestion of leaky renderings in the design

The launch of Realme 8i India was previously announced and now the company has confirmed that its next mid-range smartphone will be powered by a MediaTek Helio G96 processor. The information was released jointly by Realme and MediaTek. Realme has not yet announced a release date for its next smartphone. Earlier this month, the smartphone’s purported renderers were leaked online along with some of its other key specs. The phone is said to come with a high refresh rate screen and a 108 megapixel main camera sensor.

Through a Twitter exchange between Realme and MediaTek, it has been confirmed that the next Realme 8i will feature the newly released MediaTek Helio G96 SoC. The new processor supports screens with refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and rear camera sensor of up to 108 megapixels. In addition, the SoC also comes with MediaTek Hyper Engine 2.0 Lite, which supposedly manages CPU, GPU and memory intelligently to allow for a smooth gaming experience. Lastly, the new chipset also supports dual-SIM 4G LTE connectivity.

Last month, well-known insider Steve Hemmerstoffer (@onleaks), in collaboration with, shared some official-looking versions of Realme 8i. In parallel, the informant also shared some important smartphone specs. The upcoming Realme mid-ranger can get a 6.59-inch full-HD+ screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a selfie camera crop. Its MediaTek Helio G96 SoC is expected to be paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

For optics, the smartphone is expected to have a triple rear camera configuration with a 50 megapixel primary sensor, a 2 megapixel depth sensor and a 2 megapixel macro sensor. For selfies, you can get a 16 megapixel primary sensor. Realme must also pack a 5,000 mAh battery that will likely support fast charging. The smartphone must measure 8.6 mm thick and weigh 194 grams.

As for the smartphone’s design, the leaked renders suggest that its triple rear camera setup will be housed in a rectangular module on the left side of the phone. At the bottom, it is seen with a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port and a speaker grill. The Realme 8i should have a side-mounted fingerprint reader that acts as an on/off switch on its right. The left side is seen carrying the volume control. At the front, the display will likely have thin bezels on three sides with a slightly thicker chin.
