Netflix and WWE Announce Interactive Horror Film Escape the Undertaker, Released October 5

Netflix and WWE have announced a new interactive horror film titled Escape the Undertaker. He meets one of wrestling’s most popular acts, The New Day – which includes Big E, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston – visiting The Undertaker at their mansion and discovering it’s a haunted house full of supernatural challenges. A single move will take around 31 minutes, says Netflix, although of course the interactive aspect means there are more options to explore. Escape the Undertaker will be released on October 5th on Netflix, a few weeks before Halloween.

Here’s the official synopsis from Netflix’s Escape the Undertaker: “The Undertaker set a trap for the decorated team The New Day in their mansion. What They Don’t Know: The Undertaker’s Mansion is an extreme haunted house filled with supernatural challenges. It’s up to the viewers to decide the fate of these three poor souls trying to survive the wrath of The Undertaker. ”

While Escape the Undertaker is WWE’s first interactive adventure, it’s far from the first for Netflix. What initially started out as an experiment with children’s content gave us the crazy Black Mirror: Bandersnatch by creator Charlie Brooker, a bunch of You vs. Special Wild with Bear Grylls and a follow-up to co-creator Tina Fey’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. In parallel, there was a mindfulness experience presented by Headspace.

Escape the Undertaker is also not the first collaboration between Netflix and WWE. Previously, we had the sitcom The Big Show Show (cancelled after a nine-episode season) and the sports comedy movie The Main Event about an 11-year-old boy who dreams of joining WWE. The only other confirmed production from Netflix is a documentary about Vince McMahon, the current president and CEO of WWE. WWE Studios is also producing the 2022 animated sports comedy Rumble.
