Reliance Jio discontinued two affordable prepaid plans aimed at Jio Phone users prior to the launch of Jio Phone Next. As of this writing, these plans were no longer on Jio’s website. The two discontinued plans cost Rs. 39 and Rs. 69. These two prepaid packages are no longer listed on the website or even on the mobile app. Jio may have discontinued these plans now as it may be planning to introduce new plans to Jio Phone users after the official launch of Jio Phone Next. Jio Phone Next is scheduled to be released on September 10th.
The two Reliance Jio prepaid plans priced at Rs. 39 and Rs. 69 have been discontinued are no longer listed on the MyJio website and app. The Rs. 39 affordable plan offered benefits such as 100 MB of daily data, 100 SMS messages and unlimited voice calls to any network in India with a validity of 14 days. On the other hand, Rs. 69 prepaid package used to offer 0.5GB of daily data, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS messaging benefits with the same validity as Rs. Package of 39, 14 days. This change was first detected by Telecom Talk.
In addition to discontinuing the two prepaid packages, Reliance Jio also removed the Buy 1 Get 1 offer from its Jio Phone plans. This benefit gave users the next free recharge after paying for a recharge. It was introduced to help users during the pandemic, but Buy 1 Get 1 Free offer was removed from Jio Phone plans.
All these changes suggest that telco may introduce new prepaid plans along with the launch of Jio Phone Next. The ultra-affordable 4G smartphone is due to launch on the day of Ganesh Chaturi. The phone was announced at the 44th Reliance Industries AGM in June and was co-developed by Reliance Jio and Google. Jio Phone Next provides access to the Google Play Store and comes with features like voice assistant, auto read aloud text on screen and language translation. The expected price of Jio Phone Next is Rs. 3,499.
