Apple has just sent out invitations to its September 14 event, titled “California Streaming.” While Apple hasn’t stated what’s to come in the call, it usually announces new iPhones this time of year, and chances are good we’ll see the iPhone 13 series unveiled at Apple Park. The event will take place on September 13th at 10 am PDT, or 10:30 pm IST. Apple’s last event was the “Spring Loaded” event in April, where the company unveiled the new iPad Pro lineup, and with the California Streaming event, we can expect new iPhones, but also potentially Apple Watch Series 7 and AirPods 3 .
At the Spring Loaded event earlier this year, Apple unveiled the iPad Pro (2021) which debuted with the M1 chip – the silicon the company initially offered in its MacBooks and Mac mini last year. She also introduced the iMac (2021) which has a slim design and is powered by the same M1 chip.
At this point, there are already several rumors about the new iPhones as well. According to a list identified by an insider, the iPhone 13 will ship with an improved MagSafe charger. Informant Mark Gurman also reported in his PowerOn newsletter that the new iPhone 13 will have a satellite connectivity feature. Apparently, this feature will come in select markets to provide connectivity even without cellular coverage.
There were also rumors that the iPhone 13 series will come with upgraded batteries, although there were also concerns that Apple would be affected by global chip shortages like other manufacturers have been, and that this would impact phone supply.
As is often the case, the announcement of the next generation of iPhones will likely come with the release date of iOS 15, as was the case in previous years.
The leaks also suggested design changes to the next-generation Apple Watch. Gurman said the wearable “this year won’t be about health updates – instead, the focus will be on a new design with flatter edges, that new screen and a new chip.”
