Cryptocurrency payments are now being accepted by more than 85,000 merchants in Switzerland from their customers through a collaboration between Worldline, a French payments and transaction services company, and Bitcoin Suisse, a crypto-financial services company in Switzerland . In a press release dated August 19, Bitcoin Suisse announced the integrated service called WL Crypto Payments. This omni-channel payment solution will allow all merchants using Worldline’s payment services to accept payments in Bitcoin and Ether. Merchants will be able to accept Bitcoin and Ether payments at point of sale (POS) and e-commerce services.

To use this payment service, merchants only need to download the WL Crypto Payments mobile app. They can also install the Worldline payment plugin for their online store.

Customers who wish to pay using digital currencies can use the mobile cryptocurrency wallet app for this purpose. Prices shown in Swiss Francs (CHF) will be presented in Bitcoin (BTC) or Ether (ETH) value in real time, according to the options chosen by the customer. The price, to be paid in cryptocurrency, can be confirmed to the merchant instantly.

The transaction is considered safe against volatility risks as it will be safely converted to CHF after payment confirmation.

This payment solution was successfully tested in a pilot program before being rolled out to all Worldline merchants in Switzerland. Worldline and Bitcoin Suisse first collaborated on encryption payments in November 2019.

According to a 2019 press release, the companies intended to reinforce “Switzerland’s leading position as a strong center in the crypto-financial services industry”. Switzerland is home to more than 800 companies that offer services or develop solutions for crypto and blockchain companies and is a bustling hub of cryptocurrency growth.

Worldline Switzerland Managing Director Marc Schluep said this project met the objective of bringing “tangible value to merchants around the world and facilitating smooth, modern payments in all markets” in which the company operates.

Bitcoin Suisse CEO Dr. Arthur Vayloyan called it a “historic milestone for the adoption of cryptography in Switzerland and beyond” and added that this step once again proved that Switzerland was a leader in collaborative innovation and a pioneer in the encryption industry. encryption and blockchain.
