Shillong, Aug 29 (IANS) A son of a coal exporter to Bangladesh was abducted in Meghalaya by 8 armed group from a insurgent outfit, military pronounced Wednesday. No release call was received.
“Konu Mahanta was abducted by 8 armed GNLA (Garo National Liberation Army) rebels around 7.30 p.m. final (Tuesday) night from Chokpot area,” a police officer told IANS.
Chokpot in Meghalaya’s South Garo Hills district is about 370 km from Shillong, a state capital.
Police pronounced a hunt was on to rescue Mahanta.
