The U.S. Open doesn’t even begin until Monday. But Carly Rae Jepsen got the entire USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center dancing on their feet today during her performance for Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day in New York.
The Call Me Maybe singer
rolled back the clock in her outfits for the tennis-themed event – a
schoolgirl pleated plaid dress for the red carpet and Wimbledon-approved
tennis whites for the show.
The 26-year-old has been criticized for dressing ‘below her age’ as a ploy
to appeal to the same younger audience that worship her mentor Justin
Bieber.

She teamed her outfit with gleamingly white Converse high-top sneakers as she sang
her blog-beloved number one single.
With a red and blue scarf headband
framing her trademark bangs, the bubbly songstress looked energetic as
always as she spritedly bounced along the tennis court during her
performance.
Faking it: A four-piece band behind Carly – all dressed in green gingham shirts – mimed playing their unplugged instruments, including a keytar and a tennis racket

Carly’s hit Call Me Maybe spent nine-weeks at the top of the U.S Billboard chart, and also scored the number one spot in the UK, Ireland, and Australia.
Gleeful backup: Glee star Matthew Morrison, who served as the special celebrity umpire, was seen excitedly cheering Carly on as she sang at the event

Celebrities including the
Kardashians, Katy Perry, and Kelly Clarkson have parodied the video,
posting clips of themselves miming along to the catchy song.
‘It is tough to pick a favorite,’ Carly told Today this week.
‘I think for me the special one
remains the Justin Bieber one. Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale, it was sort
of the video that sparked them all so I think it’s forever going to
hold a bit of a special place for me.’

Tennis lovers: X Factor finalist Rachel Crow posed with an enormous tennis racket, while Olympic swimmer Missy Franklin wore an orange-and-navy Ralph Lauren tennis outfit with her gold medallion
The blue-eyed beauty, who came third on Canadian
Idol in 2007, is signed to
Bieber’s Schoolboy Records.
Her debut album Kiss is set to be
released September 18, featuring Owl City, LMFAO’s Redfoo, and producers
Dallas Austin and Ryan Tedder of One Republic.

The perky songstress recently shared
her first kiss experience with MTV, adding that her celebrity dream kiss
would be from fellow Canadian Ryan Gosling.
‘I waited for my first kiss. I waited until I was 17, and he was a jazz singer named Brenden Call,’ Jepsen said. ‘Nice guy, sweet guy. We still keep in touch on Facebook.’
However, according to People Magazine, the pop star has a secret boyfriend in the form of rocker Matthew Koma.
‘He introduced her as his girlfriend,’ a source said.
‘He seemed really excited about it,
and she was smiling from ear to ear by his side during the introduction.
He seems like a really nice and personable guy.’
One eagle-eyed party guest saw the
pair holding hands in the Standard Hotel lobby during the GetGlue HD
Launch Party in New York, and later Carly and Matthew stopped at the
Stanton Social for a dinner date.
Also at today’s sporty event was Glee
star Matthew Morrison, who served as the special celebrity umpire and
was seen excitedly cheering Carly on as she sang.
The 33-year-old actor wore a white
Henley top with black jeans on the red carpet, but later changed into a
preppy Ralph Lauren Polo shirt and sportier sneakers on the courts.
Carly’s frequent collaborator, Adam
Young of indietronica act Owl City, posed with her on the red carpet in a
plaid dress shirt and light-coloured jeans.
Olympic swimmer Missy Franklin, 17, wore her hair in a braid and donned an appropriate orange and navy Ralph Lauren tennis outfit as she proudly held up her gold medallion.
And X Factor finalist Rachel Crow,
14, posed with an enormous tennis racket in a black printed tank top,
baby pink jeans, and black pumps.
According to USA Today, British boy
band The Wanted, teen quartet Mindless Behavior, and New York Rangers
center Brad Richards were also there today.
