Wheelchair tennis players served up some action in Lincoln on Saturday and Sunday. Thirteen players from three states took part in the Capital City Wheelchair Tennis Classic.
The classic is a prep tournament for the U.S. Open in St. Louis later in 2012. It was held at Woods Tennis Center near 33rd and J streets.
Organizers said it’s a great way for wheelchair athletes to practice their sport and get some exercise. They said it’s also a great way to attract new players to the sport.
Madonna Proactive holds open rec times so new athletes can try out the sport.
