Nadal Withdraws From Olympics


The
curse of the defending Olympic singles champion has struck again as
Rafael Nadal has been forced to pull out of both the upcoming defense of
his Men’s Singles gold medal and the honor of carrying the Spanish flag
at the Opening Ceremony in London a week today.

 

 


Mauresmo Named France Fed Cup Captain


Former
French women’s great Amelie Mauresmo has replaced Nicolas Escude as the
country’s Fed Cup captain after a four-year run. The appointment of
Mauresmo, who won Grand Slam titles at Wimbledon and the Australian
Open, was announced on social media by the national federation.

 

US
Open to Have All of the Top Men and Women in the Draw



For
the first time in memory all 101 men and 102 women in the rankings are
entered in the singles field for the 2012 US Open Tennis Championships.
No injuries or schedules have held back the top players from the US
Open.

 

 

A
New Tour For Senior Men is Announced

Jim
Courier will be offering a 12-city, seven week series of events later
this year. Pete Sampras, John McEnroe, Andre Agassi and Jimmy Connors
head the cast list of this falls version of the Champions Series, now
rebranded The PowerShares Series. Others on the tour include Patrick
Rafter, Michael Chang, Mats Wilander and Todd Martin.

 

 

Nike
Celebrates Federer’s 287 Weeks at the Top


Clothing
colossus Nike has paid special tribute to Roger Federer after the Swiss
star returned to the world No. 1 ranking and set a new all-time record
of 287 combined weeks at the top of the ATP table, dislodging Novak
Djokovic from the summit and sending fellow Nike endorser Rafael Nadal
down to third.

But the
multinational is making sure there is something in it for itself as
well, marking the Federer No. 1 anniversary with a limited edition pair
of Federer shoes which cost a hefty $287.

 


Johnson starts ATP career


NCAA
champion Steve Johnson may have lost his second round match to teenager
Jack Sock in Atlanta, but he feels ready for the pro tour after playing
a full four years at USC.

“It’s
going to take a few months to feel comfortable. You are on your own and
away from the team, but it’s a challenge I’m willing to take on,” he
said.

professional tennis photographer has been shooting for almost 40 years
at all the major and minor tennis tournaments for the wires systems,
daily newspapers, magazines and advertising agencies. He has been to
venues all over the world and has compiled tennis images (archives) of
all the professionals and some juniors.  The images have all been
preserved in a temperature-controlled environment and are color
positives (slides), color and black white negatives and contact
sheets, as well as digital. There are in excess of 400,000 images and
