Ashley Key and Britny Haarup were last seen Friday morning.
Authorities in Platte County, Mo., are talking to a “person of interest” in the investigation into the disappearance of two sisters from Edgerton.
Britny Haarup, 19, and Ashley Key, 22, were last seen Friday morning. They were reported missing after Haarup’s finance said he found her two infant daughters unattended in a crib when he got home Friday afternoon.
Haarup’s father, Paul Haarup of Smithville, said a blood-soaked comforter was left on the couch. A white pickup truck that had been parked outside the home was gone.
A sheriff’s deputy found the truck on Saturday parked along a gravel road just inside Clay County but no one was inside.
There were no visible signs of foul play in or around the vehicle, and a search of the area turned up no additional clues as to the women’s whereabouts, the sheriff’s office said.
On Sunday, the sheriff’s office said it was talking to a person of interest and had executed two search warrants, The Kansas City Star reported. No further details were released.
