It will be three months before George Zimmerman’s murder case has another court hearing.
Zimmerman and the lawyers handling his second-degree murder trial skipped a scheduled arraignment Tuesday, because a not-guilty plea had already been submitted in writing. A planning hearing is now scheduled for Aug. 8.
Zimmerman’s lawyer, Mark O’Mara, filed motions Tuesday requesting a continuance and waiving his client’s right to a speedy trial.
Zimmerman is claiming self defense in the Feb. 26 killing of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed Miami Gardens teenager.
